About me
Hello, I’m Eric Orvedal, an accomplished programmer and game developer with a rich history in the field. My programming journey began at the age of 8 when I taught myself BASIC on a Commodore 64. Over the years, I delved into learning several programming languages, including C, C++, C#, J++, and more, while also learning to develop in Unix and Linux environments. In the late ’90s and early 2000s, my expertise in creating Multi User Dimensions (MUDs) garnered recognition, earning a spot in the top 10 programming resources on Mudconnect.com. My formal education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Game Development from Devry, where I graduated with a high GPA in 2009.Since 2015, I’ve excelled in Unity, completing various projects to enhance my skills. Notably, I contributed significantly to titles like Stars End and Kingdom Wars 2, both boasting over 300,000 downloads on Steam. I played a pivotal role in developing core systems, such as character controllers, animator integration, bow and arrow mechanics, mounts, swimming, and intricate vehicle physics for open-world space exploration. Recently, I led the creation of a Counter-Strike-esque game set in a medieval fantasy world for Fantisera Studio. My versatile skill set includes network programming, directional combat system implementation, and full-game development. I take pride in my ability to tackle complex challenges, evident in the successful releases of these titles on the Steam platform. My commitment to continuous learning is showcased through various personal projects, each designed to master specific skills. I am now actively seeking new opportunities to bring my passion, creativity, and extensive experience to innovative game development projects.
